Detail view showing nails and remaining cherries.

Waves

Blue painter's tape is stuck to the floor in concentric half-circles.  The ends of each piece are left curling up, which happens as a result of tearing it off the roll.  An oscillating fan is placed on the opposite side  of the room.  The breeze from the fan  circulates throughout the room, gently stirring the curls of the tape.

Here, a shop fan is used to keep an umbrella aloft.  The umbrella is made out of  a reflective "emergency" blanket, and is tethered to the frame below by strands of monofilament.  A spot light shines directly down onto the umbrella which refracts the light around the room as it  dances about,  straining  to maintain it's equilibrium.

Largo (video)

Largo

This is a small selection of the 35mm slides that are shown in a continuous loop.  When installed, they enact a simple , jarring animation of two discs moving from top to bottom.

Here, a metronome has been fitted with the interior components from the slide projector controller.  When it reaches its apex, it bumps a small piece of metal which completes the circuit that advances the projector  It's set up in a way that allows for the viewer to see the shadow of the metronome in the corner of the projection.  The events happen in a continuous loop until the metronome  winds down.
